The Knowledge Resource Center (KRC) is a 2-storey facility which houses the main library collection, the Case Bank, the Management Research Report (MRR) depository, the faculty reading room, the students’ quiet study area, and the video-conferencing facilities of the AIM-World Bank Global Distance Learning Center (GDLC) and its public information arm, the AIM-WB Development Resource Center (DRC).
The KRC - Library, is regularly accessed not only by AIM faculty and students, but also by visitors interested in perusing the up-to-date learning materials on business and development management. In addition to the Institute’s multi-media collection, the AIM-World Bank Development Resource Center holds more than 2,000 WB publications and provides on-line access to researchers interested in the projects of the bank and its partner institutions.
Through its knowledge creation and dissemination activities, the Institute is able to serve its many publics. Towards this end, the KRC - Library staff also take charge of the Case Bank, the MRR depository, and the Archives. These constitute the vital repositories of the intellectual capital generated in the Institute over its 40-year history.
The Case Bank
The collection of AIM learning materials includes cases, teaching notes, industry notes, and readings authored by AIM faculty and researchers and the teaching materials purchased under site licensing agreement with the Harvard Business School or acquired throught the European Case Clearing House (ECCH).
The AIM Case Bank is strictly monitored and restricted to AIM faculty use only.
The Itochu Chemoil Faculty & Students’ Reading Rooms
The ground floor students’ reading room serves as the depository of the bound 1995 to date Management Research Reports (MRR) which are also available in digital form. The MRRs from 1970 to 1994 and the confidential MRRs are securely stored in the Archives Room. The entire collection is for room use only. Like the rest of the KRC, the area is equipped with wireless Internet connection. An adjacent room is reserved for the collection of teaching materials which are strictly for faculty use.
The Library Collection
The Library collection consists of more than 20,000 volumes of books, periodicals, and AV materials in the field of management and related topics. In the acquisition process, titles with particular relevance to the Asian region are prioritized. Donations from ADB and other sources also beef up Library resources from time to time. The acquisition program is undertaken in consultation with the faculty.
Regular weeding out of dated publications, usually five years from first printing date, allows the Institute to share its resources with institutional beneficiaries who have limited or no budgetary provisions. Some of these recipients were the home institutions of students from less privileged areas in the countryside.
Services
All KRC - Library staff are licensed librarians and are technologically-proficient. They see to it that all users have access to the various collections through the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)/ Library Information System (LIS), the electronic resources searching and printing, the Internet, and reproduction facilities. With the use of Library computers, data and information searching in the OPAC, the MRR database and other online databases are thus facilitated.
