The AIM TeaM Energy Center for Bridging Leadership launched the fellowship component of the Mindanao Bridging Leadership Program with the generous support of the World Bank and in partnership with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process. The Center now calls for application for the second cohort of Bridging Leadership fellows for 2011-2012.
The fellowship program seeks to develop socially responsible Bridging Leaders in Muslim Mindanao who are able and desire to understand the complexity of societal challenges, particularly those which generate debilitating inequities, and develop a collaborative response to address the inequities generated, sustained by new arrangements and new relationships that encourage greater participation and responsiveness among institutions and stakeholders in the area and the nation.
Like the four other cohorts which have preceded them, leadership development in the MBLP will be anchored on the Bridging Leadership framework which has been developed at the Institute. Over the 15 months, the Fellows work on a real-life and existing program, addressing a specific societal issue, with well-defined goals to pursue. The Program will provide fellows with access to resource providers and opportunities to engage and build partners and support for the program. The program is designed, through formal workshops and coaching by experienced development practitioners (in the fields they have chosen), to deepen and enhance the fellows’ personal and professional competence to meet leadership goals as a prerequisite for achieving social outcomes as desired. A description of the Program stories of previous cohorts’ fellows and their stories are contained in Vol. 1 of Stories of Bridging Leadership.
The Program is structured in a manner that would allow the fellows to continue to work in their organizations as they plan and regularly review their activities as they move through the various phases of the BL approach.
Who may apply and/or be nominated?
The Program is intended for Leaders or those who are in a position of formal or informal authority with demonstrable conviction and commitment to Peace Development through local governance interventions and inclusive processes, particularly in conflict-affected areas of Muslim Mindanao. Fellows must have specific initiatives/projects meant to address a specific complex challenge. Joint applications (involving two to three relevant actors from different sectors to address the divide) focused on a collaborative project are preferred and highly encouraged. Applicants from the ARMM island and the Zamboanga Peninsula are preferred for this second cohort under the MBLP. Applicants must be able to articulate and define possible managerial interventions required and how the fellowship can help his/her project achieve its goals.
It is in this regard that we encourage you to nominate individuals, or groups of individuals who will most be benefited by this program and whose project will most benefit peace and development in the Region. Attached is the nomination/application packet that you may share with your nominees. Please do access the files here. You may also send us a list of names with contact information so that our Project staff can contact and inform them directly of this Program.
The Program of the second cohort of Fellows will begin in February 2012. The deadline for submission of all required documents is on January 25, 2012.
The selection process will start soon after. We will announce the selected fellows on February 14, 2012.
