In September 1994, Far East Bank and Trust Company and the Asian Institute of Management launched the JBF Center in honor of the late Philippine Central Bank Gov. Jose B. Fernandez, Jr., head of the Philippine Central Bank from 1984-1990, who was dedicated to the improvement of the Asian financial services industry. The Center works towards institutional changes towards efficient and stable financial systems, through the development of competent Asian banking and financial services managers, policy research, beneficial Asian business alliances, and the discussion of important banking and finance issues.
The JBF Center also promotes an appreciation for the Asian arts and culture in the business community.
