The Asian Institute of Management Policy Center (APC) is the public policy think tank of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). It was formally established in 1996 as the AIM Washington Sycip Policy Forum, after its founder, Mr. Washington Sycip. Founded on the tenet that a vibrant business leads to social and economic progress, the APC aims to enhance the overall competitiveness of Asian countries through research and policy studies.
The center's mission is to foster a public policy environment that emphasizes the primacy of private enterprises in the following aspects:
- in meeting the needs for goods and services of AsianSocieties;
- in contributing to their economic, social, and technological progress; and
- in building of a truly humane community of nations.
For the past decade, APC's work has centered on issues affecting the various aspects of national and business competitiveness.
The center has convened conferences, brought together stakeholders and acted as facilitator in addressing current issues in such areas as infrastructure development, energy, globalization, industrialization, international trade, ASEAN integration, peace and order in Mindanao, the Asian financial crisis, East Asia, climate change and the environment, science, technology and connectivity, foreign investments, micro-small and medium-sized enterprises, and labor migration, among others.
