A. The modalities of Recruitment
There are different modes of recruitment to engage students for summer internship and final placement opportunities ranging from on-campus recruitment, off-campus recruitment, video-conference/ telephone/ skype interview, job postings, and a Job Fair. These modalities ensure the smooth flow of the application process from the actual interview to the administration of assessment tests and case studies to the final issuance of an employment offer. The CMS provides the necessary logistical requirements to facilitate these activities such as the venue and the materials needed to process all the necessary reportorial requirements. An overview of the different modalities are given below:
1.) On-campus Recruitment: (A company may choose from either A or B or is given the flexibility to design its own program of activities)
A.) Company presentation: The company’s recruitment team can present a 20-30 minute company presentation, which should include the company’s offerings of career opportunities. A 10-minute open forum follows with an option for cocktails afterwards. Short listed candidates may undergo various assessment tests/group discussions before proceeding to the face-to-face interviews. Depending on the extent of the recruitment process, this particular activity may take from 1-2 days. Interview and presentation rooms as well as all the needed presentation equipments are provided by AIM. First time international recruiters are given free accommodation at AIM’s lodging facility, ACCM with airport transfers.
B.) Face-to-face interview: Short listed candidates are interviewed on-campus. Rooms and equipments to be used for interview, assessment and discussions will be provided by AIM.
2.) Off-campus Recruitment: The CMS team provides its partner recruiters access to the profiles of students through its CMS portal. Short listed students are then invited to the company’s headquarters. Students are assessed on their suitability for employment either through a battery of assessment tests and group and individual interview sessions. This is also an opportunity for the companies to show the students their operations and introduce them to the management and staff of the organization.
The CMS portal is especially useful for partner recruiters who have regularly recruited from the AIM and for those who are geographically located far from the campus. The students are given the important task to upload and update their individual profiles of their most recent achievements to aid them in getting their job/career preferences. The CMS however is responsible in monitoring the content of the student's web page.
3.) Video Conferencing: AIM is accessible either through IP or ISDN connection. Seven (7) days prior notice must be given for the reservation of the videocon unit. A company may opt to do a company presentation first before proceeding to the actual interview process of short listed candidates. Companies based abroad to fulfill their campus recruitment agenda commonly use this mode.
4.) Skype or Telephone Interview: Telephone units are made available for students to use during a telephone conference interview. The CMS also has a Skype account readily shared to the students if this mode of interaction is chosen.
5.) Job Posting: The CMS can post all of the company’s manpower requirements through the student database, CMS portal and alumni portal. Job postings must be in word format complete with the contact details of the point person from the recruiting company.
6.) Job Fair: Sponsoring companies have the option to conduct on-campus recruitment. The necessary logistical requirements (e.g. interview and presentation rooms, presentation equipment and materials) needed for this event is provided by AIM to its partner recruiters. The job fair is open to all companies who register with the CMS. Availability of slots is on a first-come first-served basis. The job fair normally lasts for two (2) days.
B. Career Planning Support Activities
Aside from the international visits and modalities of recruitment, the CMS also lined up several seminars and lecture/speaking engagements for industry professionals to aid the students in choosing the appropriate career path.
1.) Career Counseling in AIM: Outside parties who are all experts in their respective fields are the ones who participate in these programs. Career talks and discussions are regularly organized with the help of executive search firms, Human Resources consultants, and corporate recruiters. However, the AIM faculty’s open-door policy has also been a key tool for career counseling for students. The collective experience of the faculty has helped countless graduates in terms of their career choices and professional advancement. Industry professional and AIM faculty members are invited as facilitators to conduct relevant seminars aimed to help the students in getting their dream jobs such as Interviewing Skills (Mock Interview), Negotiation Skills, Career Planning, and Social Grace and Ethics.
A.) Interviewing Skills (Mock Interview): This seminar is a learning process for students to hone their interviewing skills. The role-playing method of learning gives the student a clear idea of the “do’s” and “don’ts” during an actual interview session. Chosen students from the MBA and MM program act as interviewees while distinguished alumni and professional headhunters are invited to be panel interviewers. The session aims to increase the chances of the students to clear through the interview phase of the application process and eventually be given an employment offer through the application of the correct and appropriate skills learned.
B.) Negotiation: After successfully clearing the interview phase, students are then trained to be effective negotiators to be able to get their preferred job function, location and compensation stack. The beauty of this seminar is that it does not only focus on negotiation skills to be learned for employment purpose but it also gives a broader aspect of negotiation to cover situations in other real-life situations as well.
C.) Career Planning: Not only does this seminar give exercises for career path and development but it also covers a broader spectrum of planning one’s life path including the risks involved in choosing such.

D.) Social Graces and Moral Ethics: As part of AIM’s vision to mold socially responsible and morally ethical leaders of the future, the CMS has made available this seminar to enforce such belief. Given the diversity of the student body, a standard and universally accepted norms and procedures are taught to the students.
2.) Alumni Placement Assistance: Lastly, though the priority of CMS is the current batch of graduating students, the alumni are also assisted through job ads uploaded in the Career Portal accessible through the Alumni web page.
