| Jesus G. Gallegos, DBA |
Professor Jesus G. Gallegos, Jr., DBA is the San Miguel Corporation Professor in International Enterprise Development. He teaches strategic management and management ethics in the Master in Business Administration (MBA) Program and strategic management and leadership in the Executive Education offerings.
Prof. Gallegos was Institute Dean and Chief Operating Officer from 1995 to 2000, a period when AIM’s quality (rankings) and quantity (financial) performances continued to be unparalleled. At the end of his term, AIM was ranked in Asia as No. 1 in Executive MBA, No. 1 in Executive Education, No. 3 in full-time MBA, and No. 3 in Reputation. Even in the aftermath of the Asian crisis, record EBITDAs in the school and conference center operations have remained unequalled to date.
In the past 25 years of his 35-year stint with AIM, Prof. Gallegos’ teaching focus has been on strategic management, leadership, and management ethics. He has also taught total quality management, problem-solving and decision-making, marketing management, operations management, human behavior in organizations, development management, and management of change. He is currently doing research on strategic practices of Asian corporations.
During the past 37 years, Prof. Gallegos has provided consultancy services for over fifty private companies and government organizations located in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand and has served on several boards in various capacities. He is the current Board Chairman of Solutions, Inc. and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Pastoral Development. Before joining AIM, he was Vice-President for Operations of International Food and Agriculture Resources Management Services, Inc., (concurrently General Manager), and Senior Consultant to the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA). For the past 20 years, his consultancies primarily focused on conducting strategic planning workshops and teaching strategic management and leadership for companies in the Philippines and abroad.
Prof. Gallegos also teaches strategic management and corporate governance in the Doctor in Business Administration Program of De La Salle University. He was once a Visiting Professor at the Institute of International Studies and Training (Japan), and has taught at the Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business and at Maryknoll College. He has been a speaker in over thirty international and local conferences and meetings. He served for ten years on the Editorial Board of Agribusiness: An International Journal, a Wiley publication based in New York.
Prof. Gallegos holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from De La Salle University (1969), and is a licensed engineer. He obtained his Master in Business Management degree from the Asian Institute of Management (1973), and his Doctor in Business Administration, with the honor of being first to graduate with High Distinction, from the De La Salle University (1998). He was a recipient of AIM’s Alumni Achievement Award (Triple A) and the De La Salle University Graduate School of Business’ Most Outstanding Alumnus Excellence Award.
