AIM President Dr. Steve DeKrey Visits Jakarta

On January, 28th, 2013, Steven J DeKrey, President of Asian Institute of Management Manila was invited for a site visit to Pelita Harapan University (UPH – Universitas Pelita Harapan) at Karawaci, Tangerang, Indonesia. “I had a really pleasant time with a very positive and meaningful meeting in Indonesia,” DeKrey said. The site visit was initiated by the the Riady family of the Lippo Group as a follow up to a previous meeting in Manila a couple of weeks before.
 
The next day, January 29th, 2013, DeKrey delivered a keynote speech at the Digital and Branding Award 2012 organized by Infobank. Beforehand, DeKrey called for a breakfast meeting with IAAIMI (Ikatan Alumni AIM Indonesia) to follow up several matters, and asked for the alumni’s views about UPH.
 
“IAAIMI should be empowered to leverage the potential of AIM to grow in the region,” DeKrey noted. Indonesia with its unique characteristics is in a good position to support the growth. He suggested that the first action would be to engage more alumni in Indonesia to gather in an event, similar to what IAAIMI did in early November 2012. The second will be to synergize the AIM representative office with the alumni group to promote AIM. And the third is to pursue partnerships with leading business schools in the country. 
 
In DeKrey’s keynote speech for Infobank, he pinpointed the importance of empowering human resources through a global leadership perspective. He mentioned that Indonesia, which is projected to be in the top 10 of the world’s largest economies, should transform its human resources strategy needs to align with its leadership paradigm. The short visit to Indonesia proved to be fruitful and productive for the AIM President, as he invited IAAIMI and the AIM representative office to organize an event for 2013.
