SINGAPORE AIM ALUMNI HOST AIM FORUM ON THE FUTURE OF MANAGEMENT EDUCATION

The Asian Institute of Management Alumni of Singapore (AIMAS) succesfully gathered more than 40 CEOs, BOD members, senior government representatives, entrepreneurs, academicians and AIM alumni from Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Canada to an invitation-only event on 2 September 2016.   Held at NUSS Suntec City Guildhouse, the event was aptly titled “AIM — The Future of Management Education”, to relay the Institute’s message that changes are being put in place to ensure AIM’s position as one of the top management schools in Asian.

Small Business Advocacy to Reduce the Space for Corruption

The RVR Center recently held its first Stakeholder Consultation in Manila as part of the “Small Business Advocacy to Reduce the Space of Corruption”.  The stakeholder consultation aimed to strengthen the role of SMEs as a constructive advocate for reform and to build consensus on an anti-corruption agenda among SMEs. The consultation in Manila gathered 16 stakeholders from the private sector, SME associations, and the academe to prioritize key corruption issues that this advocacy should focus on and to identify possible recommendations to address those issues.

WHIRLWIND ALUMNI DINNERS: JIKYEONG MEETS WITH ALUMNI IN SHANGHAI, TAIPEI, AND SEOUL

AIM President and Dean Dr. Jikyeong Kang recently made whirlwind visits to meet with alumni in Shanghai, Taipei, and Seoul.  Local alumni chapter leaders promptly mobilized the AIM alumni network to make sure Jikyeong met as many alumni as possible.  The visits allowed her to share with them the many positive changes happening at the Institute.  She also underscored the importance of alumni participation in the Institute’s drive toward the attainment of its goals, especially as AIM prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2018.

When AIM’s Board of Trustees met to discuss awarding its first Honorary Doctorate in Mangement, several illustrious figures were nominated, but one clearly stood out as primus inter pares: first among equals.

MBA 2016 STUDENTS SHARE INSIGHTS ON THEIR JAPAN STUDY TOUR

For MBA 2016 students Hanson Reyes-Lao, Camille Cabrera, and Patrick “Iggi” Tano, the decision to take the Asian Study Tour elective with Professor Gully Go was a no-brainer. The elective was meant to provide students with an immersive look at Japanese innovations, as well as management systems and practices which after graduation, the students could either adapt or apply in their respective workplaces. The study tour’s itinerary, which apart from visits to factories, interactions with plant managers and workers, along some school lectures, also featured visits to cultural sites and places of interest that would enhance the students’ understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture.
